She holds down the low end, holds down the household, and somehow still makes it all look effortless. Meet Stefl — STIFLE's newest bassist and honestly, one of the most well-rounded musicians you'll ever meet.
Born, raised, and still proudly rooted in Foley, MN, Stephanie — aka Stefl — has been playing bass guitar since age 12. And she didn't stop there. She also dabbles on drums, guitar, and keyboard, making her one of those rare musicians who just gets music from every angle. A lot of that foundation was built playing alongside her older brother, who was one of her earliest and most influential teachers. Some of the best lessons happen at home.
Growing up in Foley also meant growing up near local band Swatara — and their influence left a real mark on the musician she became. There's something special about watching people from your own backyard do something great.
Her influences? Let's just say she doesn't do boring. We're talking Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Metallica, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings — and yes, Prince. That range alone tells you everything you need to know about what she brings to a STIFLE set. Right now her top three artists are Shinedown, Ghost, and Morgan Wallen — which, honestly, is the most perfectly STIFLE answer we've ever heard.
Don't let the smooth bass lines fool you — Stefl loves metal music and can hold her own in any conversation about heavy riffs and big sound. She also loves karaoke, so if you run into her off stage, challenge her. We dare you.
When she's not on stage or rocking a jam session, Stefl is living a full and beautiful life as a Mom, Wife, and Nurse — spending her free time boating, traveling, and enjoying everything the outdoors has to offer.
